What to expect when you bring your child

Some children hop straight into the chair. Others need a minute to look around first, and that is fine. We work patiently and carefully, at the child’s pace, and nobody is rushed through. If your child is nervous about clippers or has never sat for a haircut before, tell us when you arrive and we will take it steady.

Parents and carers are welcome to stay for the cut. It often helps a younger child to see a familiar face.

Cuts for younger children

For younger children the brief is usually simple: tidy, even and comfortable. A typical boys’ haircut might be a neat short cut with a clean line-up or a gentle trim that keeps the length, and girls and children with longer hair are just as welcome. We will tell you honestly what suits your child’s hair and how it grows out.

Children (0–11) are £12. If your child would like a simple pattern or design cut in, that is from £5 extra; see hair design. If you want a fade for your child, ask us which service to book.

Haircuts for teenagers

Teenagers usually arrive knowing exactly what they want, sometimes with a photo ready. Young people (12–17) are £15. Teenagers often ask for skin fades, taper fades and textured styles; a Skin Fade / Taper Fade is listed at £20 and a shape-up at £10, so if you are not sure which to book, ask us.

Confident with every hair type

Parents of children with tight curls, coils or thicker textures may well know the disappointment of a cut that ignored how the hair grows. Cutting curly and textured hair on a child is everyday work for us, and we read the curl pattern and growth before we pick up the clippers.

We are at 13-14 Stone Street in Dudley Town Centre, open seven days a week, with later opening until 7pm on Thursday and Friday, which helps for after-school appointments. We are easy to reach from Brierley Hill, Kingswinford, Gornal and Netherton.
